2022 Senate Bill 961

Repeal FDA approved drug lawsuit ban

Introduced in the Senate

March 15, 2022

Introduced by Sen. Jeff Irwin (D-18)

To allow product liability lawsuits against drug companies related to drugs that have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The bill would repeal a 1996 state tort reform law that barred such lawsuits in Michigan courts unless the company intentionally withheld information or misled the FDA about the drug, or used bribery to gain approval.
