2022 Senate Bill 1148

Revise “power of attorney’ law

Introduced in the Senate

Sept. 7, 2022

Introduced by Sen. Doug Wozniak (R-8)

To replace the current state law authorizing the grant of “power of attorney” with a new uniform power of attorney law that would be essentially the same in all states, making it "portable" and recognized by other states. The bill would establish the conditions and procedures for granting power of attorney, and define the duties, responsibilities, extent and limits of the power granted. Power of attorney authorizes one person to act on behalf of another, most importantly in financial transactions and health care decisions.
