To authorize an income tax credit of up to $1,000, $2,000 on a joint return, for classroom supplies said to be purchased by public school teachers out of their own pocket. Note: Under a 1970 Supreme Court case, school districts are required to provide a full array of necessary classroom supplies at no cost to students' families (or to teachers).
