2021 Senate Bill 296

Republican election rules package

Introduced in the Senate

March 24, 2021

Introduced by Sen. Ed McBroom (R-38)

To abolish the current boards of county election canvassers in counties of more than 200,000 population, and phase-in new six-member boards, except for Wayne county which would have eight members. These boards are responsible for recounts and other election related matters, and the bill would require no more than half the members to represent one political party. This is part of a Republican election integrity package comprised of Senate Bills 273 to 311.
