2017 Senate Bill 630 / Public Act 235

Revise court drunk driving reports to Secretary of State

Introduced in the Senate

Oct. 12, 2017

Introduced by Sen. Rick Jones (R-24)

To revise details of the notification sent by the clerk of a court to the Secretary of State for an "admission of responsibility" on a violation involving the sale or furnishing of alcohol to a minor or a minor's purchase, consumption, or possession of alcohol.

Referred to the Committee on Judiciary

Oct. 19, 2017

Reported without amendment

With the recommendation that the substitute (S-1) be adopted and that the bill then pass.

Nov. 1, 2017

Passed in the Senate 34 to 0 (details)

To revise details of the notification sent for failing to make a required court appearance for a first-time "minor in possession" of alcohol violation. The bill would change the notice to make it the same as for other civil infractions, instead of the notice sent for criminal misdemeanors. This reflects the provisions of a 2016 law that changes first time "minor in possession" offenses from a misdemeanor to a civil infractions.
