To move Michigan’s (Republican) presidential primary election date to the last Tuesday in January. Controversies over the date and reported $10 million cost of these GOP primaries has been the subject of several <a href="http://www.michiganvotes.org/SearchLegislation.aspx?Results=50&StartDate=1%2F1%2F2001&EndDate=12%2F31%2F2011&Keywords=+presidential+primary&op=Search">previous bills</a>. Democrats pick their candidate in closed (but easily entered) caucuses.
