2010 House Joint Resolution EEE

Extend term limits

Introduced in the House

May 4, 2010

Introduced by Rep. Richard LeBlanc (D-18)

To place before voters in the next general election a Constitutional amendment to revise the term limits on legislators. Currently, representatives may only serve three terms of two-years each, and senators may only serve two terms of four-years each. The bill would allow legislators to mix-and-match these House and Senate terms in any combination for a total of not more than 14 years in the legislature. Also, to require that budgets for the next fiscal year that begins on Oct. 1 be enacted and signed by July 1.

Referred to the Committee on Judiciary

Nov. 10, 2010

Reported without amendment

With the recommendation that the substitute (H-2) be adopted and that the joint resolution then be adopted.
