2002 Senate Bill 1400 / Public Act 682

Introduced in the Senate

Aug. 13, 2002

Introduced by Sen. William Van Regenmorter (R-22)

To revise the terms under which circuit courts and probate courts are to create a new family court. Along with House Bill 6260, this would allow judges from a less busy circuit, district or probate court to hear cases from an overloaded one of the other types of trial court. The chief judge of a circuit court would assign probate court judges to family court.
