Substitute offered

To adopt a new version of the bill which would add a provision authorizing the creation of a pharmaceutical renaissance zone to give tax breaks to drug companies within the zone. This is in response to concerns that with the proposed purchase by Pfizer of the Pharmacia Corporation, some 8,500 Pharmacia jobs in Michigan might be eliminated or moved to other areas.
