2002 House Bill 6010 / Public Act 570

Introduced in the House

May 7, 2002

Introduced by Rep. Mark Jansen (R-72)

To provide for the assignment, redirection or abatement of child support payments under certain circumstances consistent with the revisions to the state "Support and Parenting Time Enforcement Act" proposed by House bill 6004. The bill would authorize the Court Family Services Office authority to determine whether a particular child support payer could make payments directly to the person responsible for the child's care, rather than into the existing centralized state collection and disbursement system. The bill is part of a legislative package comprised of House Bills 6004 to 6007. House Bill 6004 is the main bill.

Referred to the Committee on Families and Childrens Services

May 28, 2002

Substitute offered

To replace the previous version of the bill with one which eliminates the proposal to change the name of the Friend of the Court office to the "Court Family Services Office," and incorporates other detail changes resulting from committee testimony and deliberation. These do not affect the substance of the bill as previously described.

The substitute passed by voice vote

Amendment offered by Rep. Michael Murphy (D-69)

To increase from 14 to 21 days the time to respond to or challenge a child support assignment, redirection, or abatement proceeding or order.
