2001 Senate Bill 879

Introduced in the Senate

Nov. 29, 2001

Introduced by Sen. John J. H. Schwarz (R-24)

To require telecommunications providers to demonstrate to the Public Service Commission that their customer rates are just and reasonable, and show why the commission should not order their rates reduced. The bill specifies that the legislature believes the aggregate rates charged by all providers in the state to be excessive by more than $200 million. (As introduced the bill does not specify whether this is on a monthly, annual, or other basis.) The bill is part of a package comprised of Senate Bills 879 to 881.
