To revise provisions of a 2012 law that legalized the sale and use of “consumer fireworks” that restricted the authority of local governments to regulate fireworks use. Under the bill a local could not restrict fireworks use on New Years Eve and from midnight to 1 am on New Years Day; until 11:30 pm on the Saturday before Memorial Day and on weekend before the Fourth of July, and on the Saturday before Labor Day until 11:30 pm. Also, to add new requirements and restrictions on seasonal licensed fireworks retail operations, and require them to have signs that explain time and place restrictions on fireworks use. The bill would also increases firework vendor license fees and fines.
