2021 House Bill 5075

Require transparency in government medical services rationing regime

Introduced in the House

June 22, 2021

Introduced by Rep. David LaGrand (D-75)

To revise a 2002 law that authorized a joint legislative committee to inquire into the proposed actions of a state “Certificate of Need” commission and law, which were created in the 1970s to ration the number of medical providers and facilities in the state. The bill would require this committee to meet annually and review the law’s impact on the availability, quality and the cost of medical services in Michigan.
