2018 House Bill 6594

Mandate employers negotiate schedules, give written explanations

Introduced in the House

Dec. 6, 2018

Introduced by Rep. Darrin Camilleri (D-23)

To require employers to engage in a “timely, good-faith interactive process” with an employee who requests a change in the terms and conditions of employment related hours of work, times when the employee is required to be on call for work, work location, amount of notification for work schedule assignments, and minimizing fluctuations in the hours worked on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. The mandated process would have to include having a discussion of potential work schedule changes and alternatives that might meet the employee's needs, and a written statement of the reason for denials.
