2011 Senate Bill 413: Authorize “double dipping” for certain child welfare retirees
Introduced by Sen. Mark Jansen R-Cutlerville on June 7, 2011
To allow certain child welfare employees who have left the state’s employment and begun collecting pension payments to return to work through a contractual arrangement, collect a paycheck, and still collect pension payments. The bill was introduced after the state agreed to add a large number of foster child care system employees under a lawsuit settlement. Due to the ability of many state employees to retire in their mid-fifties with full pension and health benefits, many of the best candidates for these necessary positions are retired state employees.   Official Text and Analysis.
Referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee on June 7, 2011
Reported in the Senate on October 13, 2011
With the recommendation that the substitute (S-1) be adopted and that the bill then pass.
