2021 House Bill 4292

Require police agencies appoint “use of force inspector general”

Introduced in the House

Feb. 23, 2021

Introduced by Rep. Tyrone Carter (D-6)

To require every law enforcement agency in the state to appoint a “use of force inspector general,” and classify allegations involving the use of force or misconduct by police using “red, yellow and green” categories based on the “minority” or “nonminority” status of the individuals involved, and by the type of force used. The State Police would have to compile these into an annual report.
