2021 House Bill 4274

Appropriate supplemental state and federal coronavirus money

Introduced in the House

Feb. 18, 2021

Introduced by Rep. Joe Tate (D-2)

To schools appropriate $1.656 billion to public schools as coronavirus epidemic “emergency relief.” Of this, $157 million federal dollars and $300 million from state taxes would go to school districts to “mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 on student achievement.” Half of the federal dollars and all but $10 million of the state money would be allocated to districts on the basis of the number of special education students they enroll, and the rest allocated on an equal per-pupil basis. The remaining $10 million would go to intermediate school districts.
