2019 House Bill 4307 / Public Act 158

Permit, regulate and tax internet gambling

Introduced in the House

March 7, 2019

Introduced by Rep. Brandt Iden (R-61)

To revise many definitions and details in the law that authorized casinos in Detroit. The bill would repeal some restrictions on who can work in the casinos, repeal a ban on political campaign contributions by casino owners and more. This is part of a package that would authorize, regulate and tax internet and sports gambling operations by Detroit and Indian casinos, establish a permissive licensure and regulatory regime on fantasy sports games and contests and more. A similar package was passed in the December, 2018 lame duck legislature and vetoed by then-Governor Rick Snyder. The main bills in this legal gambling expansion package are House Bills 4173, 4308, 4311 and 4916.
