Introduced by Rep. Kimberly Meltzer (R) on May 26, 2010
To explicitly include “cigarette butts” in the definition of “litter” in the law that establishes penalties for littering. Among other things this would authorize a fine of up to one year in jail and a $500 for throwing a cigarette butt from a car. Civil fines for littering in general include community service and fines of up $800 for objects less than one cubic foot in size.   Official Text and Analysis.
