Impose mental and physical health “parity” mandates in welfare and private insurance

To require psychiatric hospitals or units to report to the state health and welfare department all deaths of a social welfare recipient they have or are treating, within three business days for in-patients, and if known, within 30 days of a person’s release. This is related to the proposal in House Bills 5619 and 5620 to impose “parity” requirements for mental health vs. medical and surgical service covered by social welfare programs and private health insurers.
