2020 House Bill 5331

Create independent examiners board to review auto insurance injury claims

Introduced in the House

Jan. 15, 2020

Introduced by Rep. Doug Wozniak (R-36)

To create a state oversight board comprised of independent examiners appointed by the governor to perform reviews requested by insurance companies of claims for personal protection insurance benefits under the state’s no-fault auto insurance system. Under a 2019 legislative overhaul of that system, its previously mandatory unlimited personal protection insurance benefits for individuals injured in car crashes became mostly optional, but many of its provisions still apply to treatment for injuries that occurred while it was in effect.
