2018 Senate Bill 781

Reimburse teachers for getting in-demand subject “endorsement”

Introduced in the Senate

Jan. 25, 2018

Introduced by Sen. Coleman Young (D-1)

To require school districts to pay public school teachers to earn a subject area qualification for academic subjects in which there is a critical shortage as defined in the state school code. A teacher would have to commit to working for three years in that field or else pay back the money. This is part of a Democratic teacher incentives package comprised of Senate Bills 764 to 782.
