2018 Senate Bill 769

Give teacher bonuses for certain subjects and student populations

Introduced in the Senate

Jan. 25, 2018

Introduced by Sen. Ian Conyers (D-4)

To give public school math, science or special education teachers an $1,800 annual bonus for choosing to work at a school where at least 50 percent of the children come from households with income low enough to make them eligible for a federal free or reduced-price school lunch program. This would not apply if an existing teachers union contract prohibits it. This is part of a Democratic teacher incentives package comprised of Senate Bills 764 to 782.
