2018 House Bill 5709

Authorize government savings plan for small business employees

Introduced in the House

March 13, 2018

Introduced by Rep. Robert Wittenberg (D-27)

To authorize subsidies of up to $500 for enrollees who contribute to their own account in the government savings program proposed by House Bill 5708. Specifically, the bill would authorize a “refundable” state tax credit of up to $500 depending on an individual’s annual contribution to his or her account; refundable means a person gets a check back from the state for the difference if the credit exceeds the amount of tax they owe.
