2018 House Bill 5684

Earmark fireworks permit fees for firefighter training

Introduced in the House

March 6, 2018

Introduced by Rep. Tom Cochran (D-67)

To give fire departments additional money from a state fireworks safety fund to cover the compensation of members getting the extra training that House Bill 5681 proposes to pay for with a sales tax earmark. Departments would also get extra money to cover overtime paid to meet a “minimum staffing level” mandate while members of the department are getting the extra training. These mandates are prescribed by many union contracts and local ordinances.
