2010 House Bill 6532

Authorize another multistate emergency management compact

Introduced in the House

Sept. 29, 2010

Introduced by Rep. Jennifer Haase (D-32)

To authorize a multi-state compact that would give the state and local governments the power and discretion to enter into mutual aid agreements with governments in another state for coordination of communications, training, and response to emergency events that pose “an immediate risk to health, life, property, or the environment.” The relevant licenses and certifications of emergency responders in each compact state would be valid in all if one state requests help, and “good Samaritan” liability exemptions would also apply. The bill states that this compact would exist alongside a very similar agreement authorized by 2001 Senate Bill 715 introduced by state Sen. Gary Peters and House Bill 5189, introduced by state Rep. Andrew Raczkowski. Those became a law that applies exclusively to states.
