Establish information security program standards and immunities

To establish that a person or business who owns, licenses, stores, or maintains personal information about Michigan residents is immune from civil liability for any damages resulting from unauthorized access to the information, if the person or business has adopted a comprehensive written information security program based on industry standards, including protocols and procedures for employees, third party service providers, the scope of information collected, and more.
