2009 House Joint Resolution H

Revise Natural Resources Trust Fund rules

Introduced in the House

Feb. 5, 2009

Introduced by Rep. Joel Sheltrown (D-103)

To place before voters in the next general election a Constitutional amendment to establish that would revise the rules for use of the money in the Natural Resources Trust Fund. The trust fund receives money from oil, gas, and mineral royalties and leases on state-owned lands and uses this for land acquisitions, and conservation and recreation projects. The amendment would require the trust fund to spend at least half of the revenue it takes in year to develop and manage fish and game recreation programs, including fish stocking. Under current law at least half the money must go to acquire land and land rights.
