2008 House Bill 5871

Revise former state land reversion clause repeal

Introduced in the House

March 11, 2008

Introduced by Rep. Kevin Elsenheimer (R-105)

To revise a 2006 law that removed deed restrictions on municipal forest property conveyed by the state so as to allow more parcels to be sold by municipalities and school districts. The bill would allow school districts to keep 90 percent of the sale proceeds, rather than 50 percent as under current law (with the balance going to the state). School districts would have to create endowment funds with the money and could only spend the interest or earnings from those funds, not the principle.
