2004 House Bill 5774

Assure no-fault auto insurance coverage

Introduced in the House

April 20, 2004

Introduced by Rep. David Woodward (D-26)

To require auto insurance companies to notify the Secretary of State when a person cancels his or her auto insurance. Under Michigan’s no-fault insurance law drivers are required to have insurance to register and operate a vehicle, but there is no system to monitor whether the insurance is cancelled after registration. See House Bill 5773.
