2002 House Bill 5899 / Public Act 417

Introduced in the House

April 16, 2002

Introduced by Rep. Scott Shackleton (R-107)

To broaden the availability of a wood haulers' discounted license plate by allowing it for those who transport wood products to a mill "in the form produced at the harvest site," even if there is an intermediate step such as a temporary storage yard. Current law gives the discount only to those who haul raw materials directly from the forest to the mill.

Referred to the Committee on Transportation

Substitute offered

To replace the previous version of the bill with one which would exclude the transportation of Christmas trees or processed firewood for a profit-making venture from the reduced license fees. Under current law the transportation of processed lumber is excluded; Christmas trees and processed firewood would be added to the exclusion.
