2018 House Bill 6596

Revise state park vehicle tax surcharge “opt in” wording

Introduced in the House

Dec. 6, 2018

Introduced by Rep. Sam Singh (D-69)

To change the wording in the “opt in” language of an optional state park surcharge a person may choose to pay along with the annual vehicle registration (license plate) tax. The language now reads, “This vehicle will not be used to enter the facilities described above.” The bill would change this to “I am not interested in a ‘recreation passport’ at this time.” In other words, “opt-in” would become the default option.
